Our Day

At Pre-School the children learn to play alongside other children and to relate to adults outside their family circle.
Through structured play they learn to share, to be tolerant, to develop confidence, to be creative and to learn the importance of rules and fairness. In short, your child will learn a variety of skills to prepare them for school in a friendly and caring environment. We follow the National Curriculum Guidance for the Foundation Stage as advised by the Department for Education and Skills.
In Pre-School we have paint, sand, playdough, jigsaws and games, construction sets, activity toys and a home corner. We also have a writing and number corner, water play and dressing up clothes. We cook, sing and look at books.
Our sessions start with free play where there is a craft activity, writing, colouring, jigsaws etc. We then have 'circle time' when we call the register and discuss our theme and have a story. After snack time of fruit and milk/water, we go into the main hall or clear the room for games and songs.

Policy Document

The Pre-School has a detailed document with regard to all Pre-School policies. Please ask to see it and sign the book.

Health and Safety

The Church premises are inspected regularly and maintained to a high standard. Toys and equipment similarly are also regularly checked.
We have regular fire drills. All members of staff have undergone all the required checks and fulfil the necessary registration requirements.
We are insured through the Pre-School Learning Alliance.

Sickness and Accidents

If your child is unwell, please keep them at home and inform the Pre-School. If your child is prescribed antibiotics please allow 48 hours from the first dose before returning your child to Pre-School. For most other illnesses, please allow 24 hours after recovery before returning your child to Pre-School. The Supervisor will be able to advise you further on Pre-School Policy with regard to childhood illnesses.
If your child has an accident at Pre-School it will be recorded in the accident book and you will be asked to read and sign the statement. Please make sure we have an emergency number, should we need to contact you.
On registration, we will also ask who will be collecting your child. If there is any change in this arrangement, please let us know - if possible - 24 hours in advance.

Absences

Please inform the Pre-School of any absences in advance, in writing preferably. If you choose to withdraw your child from Pre-School we will require 4 weeks notice. Failure to do this will result in you having to pay the full term's fees, regardless of attendance.

Pre-School Committee

The Pre-School is a registered charity. The Committee is comprised of Pre-School parents. The Commitee meets once a term with the Annual General Meeting in March. We have various fundraising events and your involvement will always be welcome.

Volunteer Rota

We also welcome volunteers who can occasionally help during our daily sessions. Please see the supervisor if you wish to be added to our volunteer rota.
